CBC + ESR

A Complete Blood Count (CBC) is one of the basic and most informative laboratory tests used to assess a child’s overall health. The test evaluates quantitative and qualitative changes in blood cells and helps identify possible inflammatory processes and other changes in the body.

The test includes measurements of red blood cells, hemoglobin, platelets, white blood cells, and the erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR). In addition, the leukocyte differential count is assessed, showing the proportion of different types of white blood cells involved in the body’s immune defense.

In simple terms, the test helps determine:

  • whether there are signs of inflammation
  • how the immune system is functioning
  • whether the body is receiving enough oxygen
  • how the body responds to infections and other processes

ESR is an indicator that may change during inflammatory processes and certain other conditions. The leukocyte differential provides a more detailed assessment of the immune system’s response.

A Complete Blood Count is commonly used:

  • during preventive health check-ups
  • before attending kindergarten or school
  • in cases of frequent illnesses
  • when a child complains of weakness, fatigue, or feeling unwell

Stool Examination for Protozoa and Helminths

Stool examination for protozoa and helminths is a laboratory test that helps detect intestinal parasites and the products of their жизнедеятельности in the intestines.

The test can identify:

  • helminth eggs;
  • parasite larvae;
  • certain types of protozoan microorganisms.

In simple terms, the test helps check whether there are intestinal parasites in the body.

Reasons for undergoing the examination may include:

  • abdominal discomfort or pain;
  • decreased appetite;
  • unstable stool;
  • itching;
  • increased fatigue;
  • frequent allergic reactions.

Perianal Scraping Examination

This is a laboratory diagnostic method used to detect eggs of pinworms (Enterobius vermicularis), which cause enterobiasis. The sample is collected from the skin around the anus and then examined under a microscope.

The test helps detect parasite eggs in the perianal area even if they are not found in the stool.

The test is used:

  • when enterobiasis is suspected;
  • in case of itching in the anal area, especially at night;
  • in children with sleep disturbances;
  • during examinations before admission to kindergarten, school, or hospital;
  • during preventive screenings in children’s groups.

General Urinalysis

A basic laboratory test that helps assess kidney and urinary system function, as well as indirectly reflects the state of metabolism in the body.

The study evaluates:

  • urine color and clarity;
  • specific gravity;
  • acidity (pH);
  • presence of protein, glucose, salts, and other substances;
  • blood cells and sediment elements.

General urinalysis helps to:

  • detect inflammatory processes;
  • assess kidney function;
  • identify metabolic disorders;
  • suspect infectious diseases of the urinary system..

Sometimes abnormalities may appear even when a person does not experience any symptoms.
