House dust mite Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus + allergen components

Reflex testing for the house dust mite Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus with allergen component identification (exclusive at СDL OLIMP).

If you or your child experience year-round runny nose, nasal congestion, sneezing, itchy nose, cough, asthma attacks, or worsening symptoms at home, especially at night or in the morning, this may indicate an allergy to house dust mites.

House dust mites are one of the most common causes of allergic rhinitis and bronchial asthma. For accurate diagnosis, it is important to determine not only the presence of allergy, but also sensitivity to specific mite allergen components.

What does the test show ?

The analysis detects the presence of IgE antibodies to the main allergen components of the house dust mite Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus:

  • Der p 1 (d202) - one of the main mite allergens. Associated with primary sensitization and the development of allergic rhinitis and asthma.
  • Der p 2 (d203) - a major allergen that plays a key role in the development of pronounced allergic reactions and persistent symptoms.
  • Der p 23 (d209) - a highly specific and clinically significant allergen. Often associated with more severe allergy manifestations and bronchial asthma.
  • Der p 10 (d205) - tropomyosin. A marker of cross-reactive allergy. May indicate cross-reactions with other tropomyosin sources such as shrimp, seafood, and other invertebrates.

How does reflex diagnostics work ?

Step 1 - screening for house dust mite allergen. First, total IgE to Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus is measured:

  • negative result - allergy to house dust mite is unlikely, and no additional testing is performed
  • positive result - indicates sensitization.

Step 2 - automatic identification of individual allergen components. If the result is positive, IgE to individual components is automatically determined:

  • Der p 1
  • Der p 2
  • Der p 23
  • Der p 10

This allows for a more accurate assessment of the nature and clinical significance of the allergy.

How is the test performed ?

  • a blood sample is taken from a vein once;
  • first, a general test for house dust mite allergen is performed;
  • if the result is positive, component diagnostics is automatically carried out;
  • no repeat blood sampling is required.

Why is it important to identify allergen components ?

Component diagnostics helps to:

  • confirm a true allergy to house dust mites;
  • assess the risk of developing bronchial asthma;
  • detect cross-reactive allergy with other allergens (for example, seafood);
  • determine the prognosis of the allergy course;
  • help the doctor decide on the need for allergen-specific immunotherapy (ASIT).

Why ImmunoCAP ?

The test is performed using the ImmunoCAP system - the international standard for laboratory allergy diagnostics.

Advantages:

  • high accuracy and reliability of results;
  • detection of even low concentrations of IgE;
  • safe - no direct contact with the allergen;
  • suitable for children and adults;
  • no need to stop taking antihistamines.
