Comprehensive histological examination of endoscopic material for inflammatory bowel disease (IBD)
Comprehensive histological examination of endoscopic biopsy specimens for inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is performed to assess morphological changes in the intestinal mucosa and to differentiate between chronic inflammatory bowel diseases, including Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.
The examination is performed on biopsy specimens obtained during an endoscopic procedure. The pathologist evaluates the mucosal architecture, the severity of inflammatory changes, the presence of cryptitis, crypt abscesses, granulomas, erosions, ulcers, and other morphological features that are important for the diagnosis and monitoring of inflammatory bowel disease.
