(QuantiFERON TB-Gold Plus) (promo)

Tuberculosis is a contact-transmitted disease caused by infection with complex organisms M. tuberculosis (MTB) (M. tuberculosis, M. bovis, M. africanum). Infection usually occurs by airborne droplets from a patient suffering from tuberculosis. An infected person can develop tuberculosis within a few weeks to several months after infection. Latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI), a disease that is not transmitted by contact and proceeds without any symptoms. Until recently, the Mantoux test and the diaskin test were the only available method for diagnosing LTBI. In some infected patients, a reaction to tuberculin is not detected.

This group includes patients with impaired immune function due to a number of diseases, as well as other infected people who do not have any diseases. The quantiferon test is a diagnostic test system for in vitro diagnosis of tuberculosis.

The quantiferon test is designed to diagnose latent tuberculosis infection and active tuberculosis, based on the measurement of interferon-gamma produced by sensitized T lymphocytes in response to specific M. tuberculosis antigens.
