Qualitative detection of Candida (C.fungi, C.albicans, C.glabrata, C.krusei, C.parapsilosis, C.tropicalis) in biological material by PCR

PCR testing is intended to detect DNA of the most clinically significant fungi of the genus Candida in biological material. The test has high sensitivity and specificity, allowing the pathogen to be detected even when the fungal load is minimal, including in the early stages of the disease or in chronic and recurrent infections.

Candida species are opportunistic microorganisms and may be present in the body without clinical manifestations. However, when immune defenses are reduced, the microbiota is disrupted, in the presence of endocrine disorders, or following antibacterial therapy, they may cause infectious and inflammatory processes at various sites.

Clinical Significance

Detection of Candida DNA is clinically important for the diagnosis of candidal infections and allows to:

  • confirm the fungal nature of the inflammatory process;
  • identify the cause of recurrent candidiasis;
  • promptly initiate appropriate antifungal therapy;
  • monitor patients with immunodeficiency conditions;
  • use the results as part of the comprehensive diagnosis of urogenital, respiratory, intestinal, and other candidal infections.
