Assessment of the risk of progression of cervical dysplasia by immunohistochemistry (p16, Ki-67)

Immunohistochemical testing of p16INK4a and Ki-67 is used for the differential diagnosis of dysplastic and HPV-associated lesions of the cervix. The test helps assess the biological activity of the pathological process and the risk of progression of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN).

The p16INK4a marker is an indicator of transforming HPV infection and is associated with the development of precancerous changes in the cervical epithelium. The Ki-67 marker reflects the proliferative activity of cells. Combined assessment of these markers improves diagnostic accuracy and helps differentiate benign changes from clinically significant high-grade lesions.
