Determination of DAO (diamineoxidase) concentration
Suspected Histamine Intolerance
- Chronic skin reactions (urticaria, redness, itching).
- Headaches and migraines.
- Gastrointestinal issues (bloating, diarrhea, abdominal pain, irritable bowel syndrome).
- Symptoms resembling allergies (runny nose, nasal congestion, tearing), but without identified allergens.
- Hypotension or tachycardia after consuming histamine-rich foods (wine, cheese, sausages, seafood).
Diseases in which DAO activity may decrease
- Inflammatory bowel diseases (Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis).
- Celiac disease.
- Vitamin B6, copper, and zinc deficiencies.
- Hormonal disorders (changes in estrogen levels, especially during pregnancy or when using oral contraceptives).
- Chronic stress and disturbances in gut microbiota.
Monitoring the effectiveness of histamine intolerance treatment
- Monitoring the response to a low-histamine diet.
- Evaluating the efficacy of DAO enzyme therapy.
