Determination of DAO (diamineoxidase) concentration

Suspected Histamine Intolerance

  • Chronic skin reactions (urticaria, redness, itching).
  • Headaches and migraines.
  • Gastrointestinal issues (bloating, diarrhea, abdominal pain, irritable bowel syndrome).
  • Symptoms resembling allergies (runny nose, nasal congestion, tearing), but without identified allergens.
  • Hypotension or tachycardia after consuming histamine-rich foods (wine, cheese, sausages, seafood).

Diseases in which DAO activity may decrease

  • Inflammatory bowel diseases (Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis).
  • Celiac disease.
  • Vitamin B6, copper, and zinc deficiencies.
  • Hormonal disorders (changes in estrogen levels, especially during pregnancy or when using oral contraceptives).
  • Chronic stress and disturbances in gut microbiota.

Monitoring the effectiveness of histamine intolerance treatment

  • Monitoring the response to a low-histamine diet.
  • Evaluating the efficacy of DAO enzyme therapy.
