- acute manifestations: rash, fever, catarrhal symptoms, suspected measles or rubella;
- laboratory confirmation of diagnosis in atypical or mild cases;
- examination of contacts during measles or rubella outbreaks;
- control of imported cases and epidemiological surveillance;
- diagnosis in pregnant women with suspected rubella (high risk to the fetus).
