- Liver function assessment – in cases of chronic liver disease of unclear origin.
- Neurological symptoms – tremor, incoordination, dystonia, especially in young patients.
- Hemolytic anemia – when copper metabolism disorders are suspected as the underlying cause.
- Suspected copper deficiency – in patients with malabsorption, prolonged parenteral nutrition, or a history of bariatric surgery.
- Therapy monitoring – during treatment for Wilson’s disease or correction of copper deficiency
