"Anemia Diagnosis" profile

A comprehensive laboratory test designed to identify the causes of decreased hemoglobin, perform differential diagnosis of all major types of anemia (iron-deficiency, vitamin B12/folate-deficiency, and anemia of chronic disease), and assess the regenerative activity of the bone marrow. The profile can detect micronutrient deficiencies even at the latent (hidden) stage, when hemoglobin levels are still within the normal range.

Profile composition

  • Complete blood count with C-reactive protein (CRP) - assessment of hematological indices (hemoglobin, erythrocytes, hematocrit, MCV, MCH) and exclusion of systemic inflammation that may distort iron metabolism parameters.
  • Reticulocyte count - a marker of the activity and regenerative potential of the erythroid lineage of the bone marrow.
  • Ferritin - the main indicator of the body's iron stores.
  • Iron (Fe) in blood - the level of freely circulating iron in serum.
  • Transferrin - the main protein responsible for transporting iron from storage sites to tissues.
  • Latent iron-binding capacity (LIBC) - the reserve capacity of serum to bind iron.
  • Transferrin saturation (TSAT) - a calculated index showing the proportion of the transport protein that is actually occupied by iron.
  • Vitamin B12 and folic acid - key cofactors involved in erythrocyte maturation and DNA synthesis.
