Fadiatop - new technologies in allergy diagnostics
Cough, runny nose, sore throat, red and itchy eyes, lacrimation... these symptoms are characteristic of many diseases of infectious and allergic nature, and the approaches to their treatment are diametrically different. The question arises: how to identify the cause of symptoms in a short period of time and with maximum reliability, especially in cases where patients are not sure of the circumstances of the onset of signs of the disease. This problem is relevant for all age groups.
There are several steps in the examination plan for these patients. First of all, it is necessary to establish the exact cause of the symptoms, whether it is related to allergy or not. If it is an allergy, a more thorough examination is carried out to identify the specific allergen causing the reaction.
Previously, another test was used as an initial diagnostic step: total IgE, which also indicates sensitisation of the organism. However, allergists often find that the total IgE is within the normal range, although there are characteristic allergy symptoms and positive results of sensitivity tests to specific allergens.
To answer the question "Is it an allergy or not?" a new and unique study "Fadiatop" will help. This screening test is designed specifically for differential diagnosis between allergic and non-allergic diseases. It detects specific antibodies of the immunoglobulin E (IgE) class to the most common allergens (plant pollen, house mite, mould, animal dander, foodstuffs).
There are two versions of the test: "Fadiatop" and "Fadiatop paediatric (infant)". The difference is that the "Fadiatop paediatric" contains a set of food and inhalant allergens, while the "adult" contains only inhalant allergens, as food allergies are most common in children and much less common in adults.
Thus, this combination of allergens allows a "YES" or "NO" answer at the initial stage of allergy diagnosis. If the Fadiatop is positive, the cause of the condition can then be sought and anti-allergy therapy can be initiated. Conversely, if the "Fadiatop" is negative, there is no point in wasting effort and money on such treatment. For example, in more than 80% of cases of sniffling, coughing, stuffiness and nasal discharge in children, it is due to sensitisation or allergy to inhalant allergens. About 50% of skin manifestations in the form of dry and itchy skin are caused by the food of the child or the mother who is breastfeeding. Timely treatment of allergies in a child helps to prevent the so-called "allergy march" - the progression of the disease from simple areas of redness on the skin to bronchial asthma as the child grows older!
Unlike classical skin tests, Fadiatop is absolutely harmless to humans, as the patient's blood is tested and there is no direct contact with the allergen. The patient's intake of antihistamines and age peculiarities of the organism do not affect the result of the test. The analysis can be administered both in the period of seasonal exacerbation and outside this period. Compared to other methods, Fadiatop has high specificity and sensitivity. Natural, recombinant proteins are used as reagents.
The analysis is performed on high-precision equipment ImmunoCAP 250 by Phadia (Sweden) - the world leader in allergy diagnostics. More than 70% of laboratories in Europe use the Phadia system, which is now also available to the residents of Kazakhstan. In addition, many scientific allergy randomised analysis are conducted exclusively on the ImmunoCAP system.
Attention! The Fadiatop examination can be performed in any treatment room of the OLYMP CDL branches
