New! "Determination of demodecosis by manual method" test

We kindly inform you that OLYMP CDL offers a test for detection of microscopic mites of the Demodex genus.

What is demodicosis?

The incidence of demodicosis is the seventh most common skin disease. Even though mites of the Demodex genus are part of the microflora of the skin, nevertheless they support the acute inflammatory process in such dermatoses as acne, rosacea, seborrheic dermatitis, perioral dermatitis, as well as can cause an independent disease as demodicosis. 

When should I take this test?

  • Acne that is not well treated with standard therapy
  • Itching sensation on the face
  • Papulopustular formations in the T-zone
  • Increased skin oiliness accompanied by rashes
  • Redness in the T-zone of the face
  • Differential diagnosis with fungal skin diseases
  • Eyelid redness and inflammation
  • Loss of eyelashes and eyebrows
  • Clumping of eyelashes, crusting in the zone of eyelash growth.

Biomaterial is skin scraping in the T-zone of the face, eyelashes, eyebrows.

Terms of readiness are 1-3 days.

Requirements for sampling:

  • One week before taking the biomaterial do not use antifungal drugs, antiprotozoal drugs and antibiotics
  • The day before taking the biomaterial do not use any decorative and treatment cosmetics for the face and scalp.
  • 24 hours before the examination do not wash your face and do not use eye drops (except in case of serious eye diseases).
  • The day before the test, do not wash your face on the day of the test (do not use washing gel, it is also not recommended to wash even with water), do not use hair shampoo (the product can get into the eyes), especially if there is a suspicion of demodicosis of the eyelids.

Recommendations: collection in the evening (06:00 PM), with the contents of the cavities of hair follicles and sebaceous glands.
