“OLYMP СDL” – Excellence in Quality!
Accreditation of laboratories for compliance with ISO 15189 requirements
ISO 15189 "Medical laboratories — requirements for quality and competence" is an international standard that sets out requirements for how a laboratory should organize its activities so that quality can be measured, managed, and continuously improved. It represents a comprehensive body of knowledge on establishing a management system in medical laboratories. The standard is recognized worldwide, and there is hardly a quality-driven laboratory anywhere in the world that has not heard of it or does not apply its provisions in practice.
In the Republic of Kazakhstan, as in the vast majority of countries around the world, laboratories may undergo accreditation for compliance with this standard within the unified international accreditation system. Such accreditation is a procedure by which an independent and authorized body formally recognizes the competence of a medical laboratory to perform medical examinations included within its scope of accreditation.
It should be noted that accreditation to ISO 15189 requirements in the Republic of Kazakhstan is voluntary. At the same time, it is the only mechanism for independent assessment of laboratory performance and quality, as there is no other comprehensive system of this kind in the country.
Since 2014, all laboratories within the OLYMP CDL network have regularly undergone accreditation procedures for compliance with ISO 15189 requirements (currently, ST RK ISO 15189-2023 is the applicable version in Kazakhstan), maintaining an extensive scope of accreditation that includes more than one hundred tests. This reflects the company's fundamental commitment to implementing the best standards, approaches, and practices recognized worldwide.
