Free examination of children
- In 2022, OLYMP CDL initiated a large-scale screening of children for hereditary metabolic diseases (more than 40 diseases) by tandem mass spectrometry (TMS) through Kazakhstan. A total of 754 children, aged 0-18 years, were screened free of charge. This allowed to identify dozens of babies with severe metabolic disorders, which could have been fatal without appropriate diagnostics.
- From April 2023 up to present, tests have been conducted for the cystic fibrosis genetic disease. During this period, 20,373 children have been screened n the OLYMP CDL. This opportunity was provided within the framework of neonatal screening on a free of charge basis. According to the results, 50 cases exceeded the reference intervals for the determination of immunoreactive trypsin (IRT), which is the main marker for early diagnosis of this pathology.
- In addition, during this period, 20,373 children were tested for galactasemia free of charge. Initially, 188 cases with high levels of galactose in the blood were identified. With an adequate diet, these children grow and develop perfectly healthy

This test makes it possible to recognize bacterial infection in cases of complications of diseases and to know if the appropriate therapy should be prescribed. Thus, thanks to this test, many ICU patients have been able to avoid the risk of sepsis and save their lives.
