Potato, f35

Potato (Solanum tuberosum L.), belonging to the nightshade family, is the third largest crop in the world. It is an herbaceous plant grown in humid and temperate climates around the world.
Large population-based analyses in France, Germany, and Korea have shown that the prevalence of potato allergy is 10.1%, 19.3%, and 5.7%, respectively. Analyses have shown that potato consumption by allergic people leads to adverse reactions such as bronchial asthma, allergic rhinoconjunctivitis and atopic dermatitis. The analysis showed that among people with potato allergy, 4.7% had asthma, 11% had allergic rhinoconjunctivitis and 14.4% had atopic dermatitis.

To avoid food allergies, complete abstinence from such foods is recommended. Sol t 1 (patatin) has been documented as a major potato allergen. Studies of infants showed that 75% of patients with potato allergy have specific IgE against Sol t 1. Cross-reactivity between potato, tomato, latex, and birch pollens has been reported.

Determination of specific IgE in human blood to Potato, f35, shows the body's reaction to this allergen.

Test method is ImmunoCAP (Immunofluorescence on solid phase).

Units of measurement is kU/l

The sampling biomaterial is venous blood
