Quantiferon test

Tuberculosis is contact-transmitted disease caused with complex organisms’ infection M. tuberculosis (MTB) (M. tuberculosis, M. bovis, M. africanum). Infection, as a rule, occurs by airborne from tuberculosis patient. Tuberculosis can develop in infected person within few weeks to months after infection. Latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI), disease not transmitted by contact and without any symptoms. Until recently, the Mantoux test and the Diaskin test have been the only available method for LTBI diagnosing. There is no tuberculin reaction in some infected people. This group includes the impaired immune population due to number of diseases, as well as other infected people who do not have any diseases.

Quantiferon test - is diagnostic test system for tuberculosis diagnosis in vitro.

Quantiferon test is intended to diagnose the latent tuberculosis infection and active tuberculosis based on the interferon-gamma measurement produced by sensitized T-lymphocytes in response to M. tuberculosis specific antigens.
