Molecular genetic detection of the SRY (Sex-determining Region Y) gene on the Y chromosome

SRY Gene Detection (Molecular Genetic Testing)

This test is designed to detect the presence of the SRY (Sex-determining Region Y) gene, located on the Y chromosome and serving as a key determinant of male sexual development during embryogenesis.

The method is based on Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) and allows the detection of the presence or absence of Y-chromosomal genetic material in the analyzed sample.

The test is used in clinical practice to clarify genetic sex and diagnose disorders of sex development, particularly in cases where phenotypic and genetic findings are discordant.

This analysis is used as an adjunct diagnostic tool in the comprehensive evaluation of patients and is not intended to establish a diagnosis on its own.

Results should be interpreted by the treating physician in conjunction with the clinical presentation, karyotype findings, and other laboratory test results.
