"Liver examination" profile
The liver is involved in the metabolism of nutrients, detoxification of toxic compounds, bile formation, protein synthesis, and maintenance of normal blood clotting.
The "Liver Assessment" profile combines parameters that allow a comprehensive evaluation of liver cell status, signs of impaired bile flow, bilirubin metabolism, and the protein-synthetic function of the organ.
ALT, AST, and LDH help identify signs of cellular injury. Alkaline phosphatase, GGT, and direct bilirubin are used to assess possible cholestasis. Total protein, albumin, and blood coagulation parameters reflect the synthetic function of the liver. AFP measurement complements the assessment of patients with chronic liver diseases.
The profile may be used for the initial assessment of liver status, clarification of the causes of abnormalities in biochemical blood tests, and monitoring of previously diagnosed liver diseases.
