Dog + Allergen Components

Reflex testing for dog allergen with determination of allergen components (exclusive to СDL OLIMP).

If you or your child experience sneezing, runny nose, nasal congestion, itchy eyes, cough, rash, or asthma attacks when in contact with a dog, this may indicate an allergy to dog allergens.

Allergy may be caused by different dog proteins, and it is important to determine which specific component the body reacts to. This helps to properly assess the risk, provide lifestyle recommendations, and choose the optimal treatment strategy.

What does the test show ?

The analysis determines whether there is an allergic reaction to the main dog allergen components:

Can f 1 (e101)

  • A major allergen found in dog epithelium and fur. Often associated with respiratory symptoms such as allergic rhinitis and bronchial asthma.

Can f 2 (e102)

  • Also belongs to the major epithelial allergens. May cause pronounced respiratory symptoms.

Can f 3 (e221)

  • Serum albumin may cause cross-reactive allergy with other animals (for example, cats or horses) and sometimes with meat. Important for assessing broader sensitization.

Can f 5 (e226)

  • A specific allergen produced by the prostate gland of male dogs. Sensitivity to Can f 5 may indicate a reaction mainly to male dogs.

How is the test performed ?

  • A blood sample is taken from a vein once.
  • First, total IgE to dog allergen is measured.
  • If a reaction is detected, an additional test for specific allergen components (Can f 1, Can f 2, Can f 3, Can f 5) is automatically performed.
  • If there is no reaction to dog allergen, component testing is not carried out.
  • No repeat blood sampling is required.

Why is it important to identify allergen components ?

Component diagnostics helps to:

  • identify a true dog allergy;
  • assess the risk of developing more severe symptoms, including asthma;
  • detect cross-reactivity with other animals;
  • understand whether contact with certain dogs may be possible;
  • help the doctor choose the correct treatment and monitoring strategy.

Why ImmunoCAP ?

The test is performed using ImmunoCAP technology - a globally recognized method for laboratory allergy diagnostics.

Advantages:

  • high accuracy and reliability;
  • detection of even minimal levels of IgE antibodies;
  • safe - no direct contact with the allergen;
  • suitable for children and adults;
  • no need to stop taking antihistamines.
